Here’s to the Golden Ears!

The Conservatory had a productive afternoon today, speaking with the wonderful participants of the Senior Resource Fair at St. Francis College in Brooklyn Heights. The fair was sponsored by Assemblywoman Joan L. Millman and State Senator Daniel Squadron, as an initiative of the New York State Assembly in Albany. The Conservatory was joined by beneficial New York institutions such as the Brooklyn Public Library, Hospital Audiences, Inc. and the Center for Hearing and Communication, among others.

Pete Robbins, the Conservatory’s Dean of Programs, spent the day talking to the many attendees about our diverse faculty and classes. Much of the focus was on our “Encore” program, which is a seniors outreach initiative run out of our Music Partners division. The program strives to facilitate music education and bring musical entertainment to senior centers all over the borough.

Pete also had the chance to talk with both Senator Squadron and Assemblywoman Millman, who were both there to show their support for such a great event. Both Squadron and Millman were very excited about the work we do here at the Conservatory, as Millman admitted, “People often underestimate the value of arts institutions.” That being said, the Conservatory was met with a delightful enthusiasm that told us anything but.

The Conservatory would like to thank any and all participators at today’s fair, and look forward to seeing them soon!
